Job 1:20-21

20. Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshiped,
21. And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.

Romans 8:14-18

14. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15. For ye have not received again the spirit of bondage to fear; but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16. The spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.
17. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us.

Mosiah 3:9-10

9. And lo, he cometh unto his own, that salvation might come unto the children of men even through faith on his name; and even after all this they shall consider him a man, and say that he hath a devil, and shall scourge him, and shall crucify him.
10. And he shall rise the third day from the dead; and behold, he standeth to judge the world; and behold, all these things are done that a righteous judgment might come upon the children of men.

Matthew 26:37-39

37. And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
38. Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
39. And then he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.

D&C 122:5-8

5. If thou art called to pass through tribulation; if thou art in perils among false brethren; if thou art in perils among robbers; if thou art in perils by land or by sea;
6. If thou art accused with all manner of false accusations; if thine enemies fall upon thee; if they tear thee from the society of thy father and mother and brethren and sisters; and if with a drawn sword thine enemies tear thee from the bosom of thy wife, and of thine offspring, and thine elder son, although but six years of age, shall cling to thy garments, and shall say, My father, my father, why can't you stay with us? O, my father, what are the men going to do with you? and if then he shall be thrust from thee by the sword, and thou be dragged to prison, and thine enemies prowl around thee like wolves for the blood of the lamb;
7. And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death be passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13

1. Though I speak with the tongue of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2. And though I have the gift of prophesy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4. Charity suffereth long, and is kind, charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5. Doth not behave itself unseemingly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6. Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7. Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11. When I was a child I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part, but then shall I know even as I am known.
13. And now abideth faith, hope, and charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

1 Peter 3:17-20

17. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
18. For Christ also hath once suffered for sins; the just for the unjust; that he might bring us to God; being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the spirit.
19. By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison.
20. Which were sometime disobedient; when once the long suffering of God waited, in the days of Noah, while the ark was preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

D&C 19:16-19

16. For behold, I God have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent.
17. But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I.
18. Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit; and would that I might not drink the bitter cup and shrink;
19. Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men.

D&C 24:7-8

7. For thou shalt devote all thy service in Zion; and in this thou shalt have strength.
8. Be patient in affliction, for thou shalt have many; but endure them, for lo, I am with thee, even unto the end of thy days.
