Alma 5:19

19. I say unto you, can ye look up to God at that day with a pure heart and clean hands? I say unto you, can ye look up having the image of God engraven upon your countenances?

Alma 42:15

15. And now, the plan of mercy could not be brought about except an atonement should be made; therefore, God himself atoneth for the sins of the world, to bring about the plan of mercy, to appease the demands of justice; that God might be a perfect, just God, and a merciful God also.

1 Peter 3:17-20

17. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
18. For Christ also hath once suffered for sins; the just for the unjust; that he might bring us to God; being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the spirit.
19. By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison.
20. Which were sometime disobedient; when once the long suffering of God waited, in the days of Noah, while the ark was preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

2 Nephi 31:13

13. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I know that if ye shall follow the Son, with full purpose of heart, acting no hypocricy and no deception before God, but with real intent, repenting of your sins, witnessing unto the Father that you are willing to take upon you the name of Christ, by baptism-yea, by following your Lord and your Savior down into the water, according to his word, behold, then shall ye receive the Holy Ghost, yea, then cometh the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost; and then can ye speak with the tongue of angels, and shout praises unto the Holy One of Israel.

D&C 19:16-19

16. For behold, I God have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent.
17. But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I.
18. Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit; and would that I might not drink the bitter cup and shrink;
19. Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my preparations unto the children of men.

D&C 24:7-8

7. For thou shalt devote all thy service in Zion; and in this thou shalt have strength.
8. Be patient in affliction, for thou shalt have many; but endure them, for lo, I am with thee, even unto the end of thy days.

John 13:13-17

13. Ye call me Master and Lord, and ye say well, for so I am.
14. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
15. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
16. Verily Verily I say unto you, the servant is not greater than his master, neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
17. If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
